The Surface Controlled Subsurface Safety Valve (SCSSV) acts as a failsafe downhole tool to prevent the uncontrolled release of reservoir fluids in the event of a worst-casescenario surface disaster.
To ensure optimum performance API recommends for efficiency tests to be carried out for maintenance every 6 months.
The tests have to be carried out in accordance with the 14B API Rec. Practice.
Objective for this type of test is to check:
- Integrity of the valve
- Workover operation
- Integrity of the Control Line
- Open and closure cycle of the valve
- Full functionality of the valve
